Dr. Rulin Xiu is a true anomaly. At the tender age of 6, with zero training, Rulin had an uncanny (almost mystical) ability to be drawn to exotic herbs that were found nestled in one of the most mystical and beautiful parts of China, the Qinling mountain range. How could it be that this innocent little 6 year old led by an almost mystical force would constantly search for the herbs nestled in this tranquil place which is known to this day to host "The Cradle of Chinese Civilization" and is one of the most biologically rich temperate forests in the world that supports a huge variety of plant and wildlife, some of which is found nowhere else on Earth!
In this mysterious and magical land, where colonies of 10 to 20 pandas have been found to live in stone cave communities, this little girl dumbfounded the adults. The owners of local herb stores couldn't figure out how this girl would show up at their doorsteps and sell the very precious herbs they wanted... but they bought them from her nonetheless!
At the tender age of 25 and with only $45 in her pocket, Rulin knew she wanted more so she travelled to the USA. So, with burning ambition, she attended the University of California Berkeley in 1989 where she studied physics. Rulin earned her doctorate degree in 1994 on "Grand Unification Theory" and now knew she was well-prepared to pursue her lifelong dream of discovering and developing natural remedies with proven healing properties. Dr. Rulin (as she is now known) founded Pharm East, Inc. in Washington DC. In 1999 she went on to establish Pharm China, a research and manufacturing facility managed by her family. In 2002, she established Pharm East Hawaii, which quickly became Hawaii's #1 noni producer in just over a year.
With a world of knowledge and a burning desire to help the world, Dr Rulin first headed back to her Asian homeland, where she began to discover new applications for many traditional herbs and minerals. More importantly, she came to realize that the efficacy and safety of these herbs was based on factors that few companies paid attention to: such as where they grew, when they were harvested, how they were harvested, and how they were processed and packaged. Truly understanding herbs and the healing properties they contain, Dr. Rulin now researches, studies, invents and develops unique herbal formulas, mainly based on ancient Asian medicine and modern research.
Driven by an almost mystical force, lead by a spiritual guide and fascinated by Chinese and Tibetan herbal medicine since childhood, Dr Rulin has developed, licensed out and manufactured several patented, proprietary formulas.
